HIMALAYAS, international travel magazine launched in Nepal
For the first time Himalayas international travel magazine was launched in Kathmandu amid permanent business personalities, national and international media representatives by H.E British Ambassador to Nepal John Tucknott at hotel Dwarika’s on 19 July 2012.
Himalayas travel magazine was launched in 1998, coinciding with Visit Nepal 98 the national campaign; initially it was launched to promote Nepal tourism and its potentiality in UK and Europe. Almost 14 years since is first inception the magazine now not only covers Nepal but Himalayas as a whole including Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim & Darjelling, Tibet, India and Pakistan..
“United Kingdom has always taken Nepal as one of the closed countries due to the two hundred years old historical relation and the role played by Nepalese in the British army said, while launching HIMALAYAS the first and only travel magazine of the eastern Himalayas available in UK since 1998.
“We have come to Nepal not to promote Nepali about Nepal but to let them know the existence of the travel publication and the information it carries about Nepal tourism and the neighboring countries’, said Raja Ram Giri the editor and publisher of Himalayas Publications.
Giri further said the aim of the magazine to launch in Nepal is because Nepal has always been promoted as additional destination after India and Thailand and we want to change this by promoting Kathmandu as the main hub of the Eastern Himalayas, due to the easy access and excellent airlines network between Kathmandu and neighboring states.
From next issue Rajesh Hamal, nepali movie superstar will be contributing in the Himalayas as regular writer under the title “Travelling with Rajesh Hamal’, Mr Hamal said that he accepted this offer due to the fact one of his key interest is also travelling and it will be good to put in writing the experience he gets while moving around the country in the process of not only making movie but at leisurely.
The magazine was launched at Hotel Dwarika’s in presence of top hoteliers, industrialist, bankers and media representatives.
Himalayas will be available in bookshops of major tourist areas like Thamel, Lazimpat, Sanepa, Bhaktapur, Pokhara and some departmental stores like Bhat Bhateni, Namaste Supermarket, BigMart and on complimentary basis to over five hundred corporate houses within travel and tourism related sector.
